Eugene "Gene" Frake

President, Whip Six Enterprises, Inc.

Gene is from Los Angeles, California, where he graduated from Loyola College Preparatory and California State University, Northridge.

From his first bicycle, a Schwinn Sting-ray, to his current Look 695 – Gene has continued his lifelong love affair with cycling. Throughout his 33 years as an international airline pilot - most recently as a Boeing 777 Captain - Gene had the unique experience to enjoy bicycle touring in all corners of the globe, from the Orient to South America to Europe.

Though a dedicated road cyclist, Gene also developed a strong interest in indoor group cycling — often referred to as "spinning." Due to generous amounts of layover time in various ports of call, he had many opportunities to participate in group classes.

These enriching international experiences led him to pursue an interest in teaching, ultimately leading him to earn three separate indoor cycling instructor certifications (Schwinn, Spinning, and GCS).

Mr. Frake is the father of four daughters. This led to his awareness about women's health and safety in fitness. He realized many female class participants were wearing inappropriate indoor cycling gear leading to discomfort, degraded performance, and potential injury. As a result of this and the fact that women's choices for a broad selection of superior quality Western-made cycling, triathlon, running, and fitness wear are nearly non-existent - Whip Six was born.

Gene is president and founder of Whip Six Enterprises, Inc dba Whip Six, and holds the distinction of chief designer. His athletic emphasis is on indoor group and road cycling, as well as weight training.
